DESCRIPTION

Frank Phillips College is currently seeking a qualified individual to teach agriculture, animal science, and/or agribusiness courses in the agriculture program starting Fall 2021.  Courses are offered at the Borger, TX campus but some travel may be required to supervise and monitor dual-credit courses within the service area.

This position includes both classroom and laboratory teaching.  Duties will include teaching 15 credit hours per semester of assigned classes and labs; preparing lessons and course syllabi; creating a learning environment that fosters student success and active learning; developing, integrating, evaluating and reviewing student learning outcomes in support of the College's ongoing accreditation; participating in department/institutional operations and program review; evaluating and assisting students; keeping accurate records of student performance, including following grading and registration records procedures; providing students with timely feedback; maintaining office hours, participating in professional development to maintain current in the discipline and grow as a faculty member; utilizing instructional technology in support of the teaching/learning process; and contributing to a collegial and collaborative work environment.

The department of agriculture is growing and continually offering new and exciting programs for our students.  Providing students with unique, hands-on opportunities is the goal of our department and creating a "destination" for students who seek to acquire these unique skills.  Our department focuses on providing both academic transfer and work force education to help our students reach their goals.

Opportunities exist for overload and summer teaching assignments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree with a specialization in animal science, agronomy, or agribusiness; knowledge of production agriculture; willingness to teach a variety of classes with agriculture; strong interpersonal communication skills; and intermediate to advanced computer skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in teaching agricultural courses at the community college level; experience in program assessment, assessment of student learning outcomes or other assessment practices; and ability to engage students from a wide spectrum and ages and from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, including high school students enrolled in dual credit classes preferred.

Frank Phillips College is currently seeking a qualified assistant volleyball coach to assist to field competitive teams and squads by recruiting, awarding scholarships according to budgeted funds and counseling the best available talent within budgeted funds allowed.  The qualified candidate will also assist to administer and manage athletic program by scheduling games and ravel in accordance with NJCAA, WJCAC and FPC guidelines; plan and coordinate with the athletic director, practice sessions with regard to facilities, times, and activities: procure supplies and equipment within budgeted funds; drive team vans or ensure qualified drivers drive team vans or buses; oversee maintenance of facilities as necessary; assist with athletic director in fund raising activities as requested; provide academic counseling to athletes in the program; represent the college in a positive manner at all times.  They will also teach assigned classes by planning and delivering quality instruction in classes assigned by either the Vice President of Academic Affairs, department director, head coach or the athletic director.  Candidates will need to cooperate with all athletic personnel by sharing fairly in the use of facilities, travel, scheduling, and use of the athletic trainer as assigned by the athletic director.  The assistant volleyball coach will contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as determined by the athletic director.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Coaching or playing experience at the Junior College level or higher
  • Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability work well with computers
