The new employee orientation procedure at Frank Phillips College consists of:
This orientation must occur on or before the employee's first day of employment. It is designed to give the employee general information about College policies, procedures, and benefits. The Human Resources Office will be responsible for this part of the employee orientation and will ensure that all new employees:
- fill out and sign an Employee Information Form, Payroll Information Form, W-4, I-9, Vehicle Agreement, Workers Compensation Notice, Social Security Exemption Form, and State Insurance Program forms;
- are enrolled in the appropriate retirement program according to State Law (TRS or ORP); and
- are given information concerning College policies and benefits. These will be explained to the employee, and all questions will be answered.
This portion of the orientation program is intended to give the new employee information concerning their position and department procedures. The immediate supervisor of the new employee will be responsible for ensuring that all new employees:
- have reported to the Human Resources Office by the first day of employment for General Orientation;
- are thoroughly acquanted with performance standards for their position. Human Resources will give a copy of the job description to all new employees;
- are given information concerning department procedures, office hours, and employee conduct; and
- are introduced to all other personnel in their work area and to those with whom frequent contact is made.
During this session, employees will become more knowledgable about Frank Phillips College, its history and traditions, core values, organizational structure, and commitment to diversity and inclusion. Participants will walk away with a sense of pride and enthusiasm for being part of the Plainsmen family.
The New Hire Workshop is typically scheduled around late August and late January. Specific dates and times will be provided to new employees by the Human Resources Office.
New Employee Notices
Below please find a list of required notices for new employees of Frank Phillips College. All FPC employees are required to review the New Employee Notices within the first 30 days of employment.
Employees shall not manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess, use, or be under the influence of any of the following substances during working hours while on College District property or at College District-related activities during or outside of usual working hours:
1. Any controlled substance or dangerous drug as defined by
law, including but not limited to marijuana, any narcotic drug,
hallucinogen, stimulant, depressant, amphetamine, or barbiturate.
2. Alcohol or any alcoholic beverage.
3. Any abusable glue, aerosol paint, or any other chemical substance for inhalation.
4. Any other intoxicant, or mood-changing, mind-altering, or behavior-altering drugs.
An employee need not be legally intoxicated to be considered “under the influence” of a controlled substance.

Any person who has cause to believe that a child’s physical or mental health or welfare has been adversely affected by abuse or neglect has a responsibility under state law to immediately report the suspected abuse or neglect to an appropriate authority. As defined in state law, child abuse and neglect include both sex and labor trafficking of a child.
