FPC Rodeo @ ENMU - added 11/28/2016
FPC Rodeo at Eastern New Mexico State University
FPC Rodeo at Eastern New Mexico State University Long drives, wet weather, and inescapable mud couldn’t keep the winning attitude and overall winning of the Frank Phillips Rodeo team. The rodeo season started off in Portales, New Mexico hosted by ENMU September 15, 16, 17. A great start to a promising season, the team hit the ground running with three to make it back to the short round with lots of room to improve. The two sophomore girls, Ricky Rodriguez and Erica Henderson, and one freshman boy, Zach Hanko. Rodriguez was 6th in the goat tying in the long round out of 77 girls and 8th in the short round and the average. Henderson was 8th in breakaway in the long round out of 147 girls. She came into the short round and had some tough luck, she finished 8th in the average. Henderson was also 18th in the barrel racing out of the 147 girls even after she drew up on the muddiest day of the rodeo, Thursday night. Hanko finished 8th in the long round for bareback and came back in the short round to end up 6th in the average and the short round. Other highlights from ENMU was Freshman Sierra Smith who finished 25th out of 147 in breakaway, Freshman Laramie Mahan 33rd out of 147 in breakaway, and Freshman Amber Willey 45th out of 147 in breakaway. Frank Phillips women’s team finished 9th out of 17 teams. Written by: FPC Rodeo Athlete Bobbi York
