2016 FPC Rodeo NFR Bash - added 1/11/2016

2016 FPC Rodeo NFR Bash Raises Funds to Support the new FPC Rodeo Workout Facility

On Sat., Dec. 5, the Frank Phillips College Rodeo Team hosted their second annual NFR Party. Community members and local Borger businesses such as the 6666 and Agrium met at the Borger Elks Lodge. The night started at 7:30 p.m. with a walk through the silent auction which included two custom rope rocking chairs, custom cornhole boards, Frank Phillips rodeo apparel, and much more. The Fantasy Rodeo contest winner took home a belt buckle and $250. At 8 p.m., a steak or chicken dinner was served with peach cobbler for dessert. Mingling between the guests and rodeo team took place before the big show started at 9:30 p.m. as big screens around the room played the championship of rodeo, the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, NV. The top 15 in the world qualify in seven national events. The silent auction closed at 10 p.m. with great items going home to the highest bidder. At the end of the night, Allen McCoy took home the Fantasy Rodeo belt buckle and cash prize. It was overall a great night for FPC Rodeo Team and all who attended. Head Coach Kaylee Moyer and Assistant Coach Josh Griggs put together this fundraiser last year to help with the team’s finances. Between purchasing team shirts and vests as well as awarding travel money to selected team members each rodeo weekend, it takes a lot to run the team at a collegiate level. The athletes compete along with many other Junior College and University teams across their region. The fall season finished up this past October but their spring season will begin toward the end of February, with team members attending a total of ten college rodeos in a school year, as well having as a chance to qualify at the national level for the College National Finals in June in Casper, Wyoming. Coach Kaylee, Assistant Coach Josh and the whole FPC rodeo team would like to thank everyone for their support of the sport of rodeo and of the Frank Phillips College Rodeo Team.
